 As parents, it's our duty to ensure our children's safety. However, always watching over the kids is almost impossible, especially if you have a job. Sometimes, you must leave your kids at home, all by themselves.

For those days, ensure you teach your kids to follow these four rules to stay safe, even without adult supervision. 1.    Always Keep All Windows And Doors Closed.

One of the most basic safety rules for your kids is to keep all doors and windows locked. Teach your kids how locking the door behind them will help prevent intrudes or stray animals from entering your property. You should also ensure your kids are never in a position where they might lock themselves inside a room or outside the house.

2.    Stay Away From All Medicines And Chemicals.

Kids are always finding new ways to explore their environment. While at it, they may find detergents and pesticides with alluring odours and start playing with these harmful chemicals. If your child consumes these chemicals accidentally, it can result in severe consequences.

While most parents like to keep such stuff stored somewhere safe and out of their child's reach, its aways best to tell them about the dangers of ingesting such chemicals. As parents, you should do your best to keep all medicines and cleaning chemicals locked away in a drawer so there is no chance of poisoning.

3.    Stay Away From Electrical Outlets And Door Hinges.

Some of the most severe at-home injuries result from doors and electrical outlets. Since children's hands and fingers are so small, they tend to reach dangerous places easily. Teach them how putting their hand inside an electrical outlet can result in a shock or how getting their hands or fingers stuck between a door and its frame can result in a severe injury.

4.    Don't Try To Get Inside Closed Spaces.

There are a lot of kids who get suffocated to death by accidentally getting locked inside wardrobes and cupboards, so this is a severe risk all parents should know about. Ensure you lock all electronic devices and wardrobes when leaving the house.

Paying attention to these four rules can help your child always stay safe. However, you should never count on a child to stay safe just because you asked them to. Therefore, all parents should also pay attention to these points and do their best to keep their kids safe when they are not around.
